Conference Objectives

  • To provide education to home visiting program staff in Kansas to assist them in improving the health and developmental outcomes for at-risk maternal, infant, and early childhood populations (birth through 5 years).
  • Enhance skills to assure effective coordination and delivery of critical health, development, early learning, child abuse and neglect prevention, and family support services to these children and families through home visiting programs.
  • Define the difference between cultural competence and cultural humility and how these concepts apply to home visitation work.
  • Explore new strategies and resources related to active listening, breastfeeding support and other strategies during COVID-19, safe sleep, recruitment, personal safety, reflective supervision, building resilience, and combatting staff burnout.
  • Identify innovative strategies and resources to enhance home visitation services.
  • Examine the home visiting system in Kansas.
